Summerlands Sub-Vine View
Charles Palmer Vineyards ❖ Winchelsea ❖ East Sussex ❖ England ❖ 11 June 2022 ❖ 12:23 pm ❖ View from under a Grapevine
Vineyards are themselves living beings. A collection of vines creating a whole. Carefully designed rows create landscape within a landscape. I am fortunate to live near one - and help out there as well - presenting a rare opportunity to capture the majesty within.
I often found myself at ground level, looking up and out, offering a new perspective from the norm. The beauty of straight lines present a military-like formation. I wanted to look closer. To experience the curves of a single vine. The chaotic edges of a leafy canopy. It was then I captured this image.
On the ground. Beneath the shade of a late-spring awning of fragrant grape leaves. Close to the deeply textured vine root. Peering up to the solidity of posts securing the never-ending cue of supported grapevines. The call of buzzards riding the thermals above. White, fluffy clouds scattered in the deep blue skies. A feast for the senses indeed
