Winter Sun through Fern
Monk's Walk ❖ Winchelsea ❖ East Sussex ❖ England ❖ 2 December 2022 ❖ 3:16pm
Early December in this part of England seems to resist the inevitable approach of winter. Many trees retain their well-used leaves. The local grasses display their year-round shades of green. Frost has yet to bring it's killing chill to the land.
This hand-crafted stone wall lines a walkway along this relatively busy road. A barrier between the busy life of people and the serenity of grazing sheep. Teeming with life, plants of varying sizes, shapes, and colours spring between stones. Attached to stones. Adding an organic look and shape and feel to the man-made structure.
I captured a lot of photos during this glorious wander through Winchelsea. Still-blooming flowers continued to decorate each garden. Copper-coloured leaves persistently clinging to their home branches. Yet this simple stone-dwelling fern stole the show. It swayed lazily in the gentle, unseasonably warm breeze. It's path created a flicker of early winter sunlight. Fern and sunlight dancing together in a colourful waltz.
